Come discover this hidden treasure! The "National System of Conservation Areas"
(SINAC) manages 160 protected areas that cover 25% of the territory with different types
of forests (tropical rainforest, rainforest, dry forest and covered) and diverse wet areas
(beaches, the sea and its reefs, mangroves, rivers, and marshes...). There are 28 national
parks. The most well-known are Tortuguero, Corcovado, Arenal, Manuel Antonio, and
Cahuita. SINAC enables ecological research and planning the management of Costa
Rica's natural resources.
