San José and its Mountains

San Jose is in a valley surrounded by volcanic mountains with a temperate climate and soil rich for agriculture, especially coffee. Visit the capital by walking down the pedestrian avenue that starts with the old Bella Vista General Headquarters where the army was abolished in 1949. Continue through the artisan markets, the gold museum, the jade museum, the modern art museum, and end at the central market. You can also enjoy many national parks with dense vegetation (Poas Volcano, Irazu Volcano, Turrialba Volcano, Braulio Carrillo, Tapantí, Quetzales...), and every type of activity (botanical gardens, rafting, zipline...).

San José and its Mountains

We are found in ''Plaza de la Cultura'' next to the National Theater. This meeting place is known by all: lovers meet there, children chase pigeons, others eat ice cream... Architectural works are found in this urban hubbub that include the most important works in the country and one of the most important collections in Latin America: the ''Gold Museum'' belonging to the Central Bank of Costa Rica. Apart from the numismatics collections and the modern plastic art of Costa Rica, the museum protects almost 4,000 pre-Columbian pieces made of gold, stone and ceramic. This treasure is evidence of a village, its living conditions, beliefs and knowledge.
